Schneider Honored With Military Friendly® Employer Award for 13th Time

September 24, 2019

Designation awarded by VIQTORY for companies committed to providing opportunities to veterans

GREEN BAY, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Schneider (NYSE: SNDR), a long-time supporter of current and former military personnel, has earned VIQTORY’s 2020 Military Friendly Employer Award. Since 2003, the award has recognized companies that set the standard for demonstrating positive employment outcomes for veterans and their families. This year’s award marks the 13th time Schneider has been honored by VIQTORY for its commitment to providing opportunities to veterans and active duty military members.

Schneider’s commitment to the military dates back to 1935 and its founder Al Schneider, a National Guardsman who understood the exceptional level of commitment and skill military members bring to their work. His dedication is showcased annually by the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, which in 1991 inaugurated the “Al Schneider Memorial Award” to recognize an employer that demonstrates outstanding support to the enlisted men and women of the guard and Reserve.

Today, Schneider demonstrates its strong support of associates with military backgrounds through its programs and practices, including:

  • Converting military experience to Schneider driving experience credit toward starting pay
  • Guaranteed home time for weekend drill and annual training – no time off required
  • Extended benefits and differential pay if deployed for up to 18 months
  • GI Bill benefits available through Department of Veteran Affairs Apprenticeship Program

“Providing opportunities to associates with military experience has been part of our company’s DNA for nearly 85 years,” said Rob Reich, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Schneider and U.S. Army veteran. “We’re certainly proud to be recognized as a Military Friendly Employer for this commitment, but we are prouder that so many current and former military personnel choose to call Schneider home.”
