NYSE Bell-Ringing Reenactment Caps Off New York-Themed Associate Appreciation Days

By Tammy Grunert Jun 29, 2017

Ding Ding Ding! If you were at Schneider’s Corporate Business Center on June 8, you would have heard the ringing of a bell. Why? Well, to commemorate Schneider’s initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange, of course. We held a bell-ringing ceremony in Green Bay Wis., for all of us who were unable to attend the historic event in New York on April 6.

The recreation of the bell ringing was one of the highlights of the New York-themed Associate Appreciation Days, which were June 5-9. Schneider Chief Operating Officer Mark Rourke was the master of ceremonies, and 5-million-mile, 40-year-consecutive-safe-driving, 2016 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance award recipient Bob Wyatt was the guest of honor — just as he was on Wall Street!

More than 250 associates were able to take a few minutes away from their desk to “re”witness this historic event. To complete the reenactment, we were privileged to have both the 2016 and 2017 Ride of Pride military tribute trucks flanking the building. What a beautiful sight! Mark introduced military veteran drivers Jon Ritscher and David Price to the crowd. Mark took advantage of this opportunity to present Bob, Jon and Dave with a Schneider Value Coin to thank them for their commitment and dedication to our core values.

After the bell-ringing ceremony, lunch was served for all associates under a huge tent. Thankfully, we were blessed with gorgeous weather, not a given in Wisconsin. Serving as a backdrop for the picnic was the 57’ x 37’ banner that was initially hung at the NYSE — yes … that is feet!

The entire week was New York-themed, and associates had a lot of fun with it. We had a New York-themed breakfast: apples and bagels. One group participated in a landmark scavenger hunt complete with New York icons like the Statue of Liberty. The “Pop”arazzi were in town on Tuesday, popping popcorn for the stars here at Schneider — we have a lot of them! Wednesday was department food day, and the aroma was fantastic. We saw coney dogs, New York cheesecake, deli specials, and other great food!

For all our associates not located in Green Bay, which is the vast majority, we will be celebrating Field Associate Appreciation Days and Driver Appreciation Week September 12-14 — during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Leaders will be traveling to various locations to help celebrate and recognize all associates. Look for more information in the coming months!
