Schneider has an immediate need for a detail-oriented Buyer who will be accountable for all aspects of capacity procurement functions in support of our clients. This includes identifying, selecting, onboarding and developing carriers and suppliers of transportation, logistics and corporate products and services. You will also conduct safety and security audits to carriers and logistics suppliers facilities.

About the Role:

  • Understand customer supply chain strategy and objectives which includes network and transportation needs, lanes, modes, and shipping requirements.
  • Provide transportation solutions and evaluate against needs in areas including mode evaluation, carrier evaluation, price, and service to meet customers objectives and strategy while working closely with the account managers.
  • Negotiate, contract and confirm transportation rates are accurate in the Transportation Management System. .
  • Mitigate risk through the active management of safety and service compliance processes. Collaborate with internal and external parties to develop and execute action plans to address any nonconformance. This could include reviewing operational, administrative, C-TPAT and Safety processes including driver screening, selection and hiring procedures and their records.

**Associate can work from home every other week after training is complete

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience and 2-4 years relatable experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while finding innovative ways to blend ideas from a variety of individuals
  • Problem solving, analytical, and negotiating skills along with the ability to analyze various courses of action and make recommendations
  • Typing and data entry skills with a strong attention to detail
