Schneider is looking for an optimistic, motivated, forward-looking Lead Software Engineer with an innovation mindset ready to learn, grow, and be empowered to influence one of Schneider's flagship products, FreightPower®. FreightPower® was designed to optimize freight capacity and allow for instant quoting, booking, and shipment tracking right at a shipper and carrier’s fingertips in a sleek user interface. You will work with our shipper and carrier development teams, as we continue to grow the FreightPower® mobile and web-based application. Utilizing knowledge of Android and iOS platforms and app stores, you will lead and mentor the developers to create and maintain highly scalable and performant consumer experience. You will be a critical player of our team, working closely with our product leadership group and marketing, researching, and presenting recommendations and continuous improvements based on user feedback. 

You need to be able to work independently in an agile environment, while also being very comfortable reaching out to others to get questions answered and establish relationships. You will also have a dedicated senior-level mentor to guide you through the ins-and-outs. This is a high-performing role, with the opportunity to learn and enhance your development skills. If you have experience or interest in working with Backend For Frontend (BFF) and Domain-Oriented Microservice Design patterns; implementation of backwards compatibility and A/B versioning strategies; MS Azure, React, Ionic, APIM, AKS, Springboot or Node JS services; Mongo or SQL Server databases; Kafka, Firebase, Dynatrace, or Rally, this could be an exciting opportunity to showcase your abilities!

In this role, you will:

  • Work with product owners and senior architect to assure business requirements and architecture strategies are understood, constantly evolving and improving our technical architecture and design patterns.  
  • Create detailed technical designs based on business requirements and work with developers to ensure the designs are coded correctly, with an understanding of organizational data security policies and architecture requirements.  
  • Have the overall technical ownership and own the health of deployed code, and create and maintain the overall technical product documentation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage projects to effectively deliver product increments through technical strategy and architecture of highly scalable consumer grade applications.
  • Oversee process deployment, coding, and documentation standards, tools, and expectations of developers.
  • Participate in testing, DevOps, monitoring, performance measurement, and incident management using CI/CD pipelines, TL area architecture, and detailed release cutover planning.

Ideal candidate will have: 

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or the equivalent.
  • Minimum six years of relevant IT experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Java-based software development.
  • Expert knowledge of system design, development, development patterns, quality assurance, integration methodologies as well as business and IT strategies, architectural standards, and software / application capabilities.
  • Ability to work in a fully remote environment (onsite in our Green Bay, WI headquarters or hybrid preferred).
