Schneider is continually reviewing and adjusting drivers’ pay to reward the hard work they do.
In 2020 we increased Team driver pay, and 2021 is no different as we again made significant pay changes in January for our Team truck drivers.
The most noteworthy changes include increasing pay by up to 20% and implementing guarantee pay of at least $1,000 per week during the first three months for eligible team drivers.
Up to 20% pay increase for Schneider Team drivers
Through recent pay changes, we’ve increased our VTL Team driver pay by up to 20%, which means top drivers are earning up to $98,000 per year and average Team driver earnings are between $65,700 and $80,300 annually.
A winning pay design for Team drivers:
- Up to $.62 per mile starting pay based on individual driving experience.
- Up to $.05 per mile in performance pay (the average Schneider Team driver earns an additional $75 each week).
- An automatic $.01 per mile annual pay increase (until max pay achieved).
- An additional $100 per team for every HazMat load delivery.
Weekly guarantee pay for new Team drivers
We’ve added more predictability by offering at least $1,000 in weekly guarantee pay during eligible team drivers’ first three months at Schneider.
Typically, most drivers earn much more than that each week as a Team driver with higher starting pay and available miles. But knowing you’ll have a dependable paycheck while still adapting to your new role at Schneider, provides peace of mind for both you and your family.

- Increased sign-on bonuses: $24,000 for experienced teams – pays each eligible driver $1,000 per month in first year ($500 for inexperienced drivers).
