Job overview:
Schneider’s Transportation Management (STM) division is seeking a Senior Market Specialist in Sarasota to manage key carrier relationships within a specific market to generate capacity to service customers and exceed sales goals. The Senior Market Specialist will also coach a team of freight brokers who are assigned to the same market.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily assignments to freight brokers within the designated inbound market.
- Coordinate carrier solutions to ensure a consistent freight volume for shippers.
- Prioritize carrier coverage and make purchasing decisions for freight.
- Coach and mentor new freight brokers.
- Prospect for new carriers.
- Quote, negotiate and commit transportation services with carriers.
- Grow business with existing carriers.
- Make profit-based decisions based on data, market trends and judgement.
- Manage freight pick-up, transit and drop-off to ensure it is delivered on time.
Skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Confident speaking with carriers and making outbound phone calls.
