Job overview
Schneider is seeking a Fleet Manager in Chesapeake to serve as a coach to a group of owner-operator truck drivers who do business with Schneider. The Fleet Manager will talk to owner-operators about business-related issues and answer any questions they have related to their contract with Schneider.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate owner-operator business sessions.
- Ensure compliance with owner-operators' contracts.
- Administer operating standards concerning public safety and regulatory compliance within Schneider and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
- Manage the terminal’s safety and compliance by monitoring and improving processes related to Hours of Service regulations, inspections, retention and operating procedures.
- Oversee the cost, utilization and return on investment of company assets.
- Identify the root cause of service issues and discuss contractual compliance with owner-operators.
- Analyze various courses of action and make recommendations.
Skills and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 2 years of transportation experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid analytical skills.
- Able to take initiative.
- Able to understand how data drives technology.
