Military-Friendly Employer

Pride is a word that defines every aspect of Richard Barczewski’s life. As a member of the United States Military for 25 years, Richard is not only honored to serve his country, but is also proud to haul freight for Schneider as a regional truck driver. “I feel there are a lot of similarities between my duty to the U.S. and my role on the Schneider team. There is a real sense of loyalty and respect at Schneider along with the feeling of camaraderie – you are a member of the team.”

Military Friendliness Matters

After driving for a competing truckload carrier, Richard made the move to Schneider in 2006 due to the benefits package, home time, and, most importantly, its military-friendly programs.

“Schneider guarantees me home time for weekend drills and annual training. This flexibility shows their support for the military and is only one of the many aspects that sets Schneider apart from competitor companies.”

Richard currently serves with the Army National Guard and has two occupation specialties – 88M-truck driver and 92f petroleum supply specialist. He was recently deployed to Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan and worked with the Army Material Command for one year before returning to Schneider in January 2013. “The fact that I still have a job with Schneider after two deployments to Afghanistan speaks volumes! Many companies don’t provide that level of support.”

Riding with Pride

Richard’s dedication to the military and Schneider fueled the decision to select him as the driver of a Ride of Pride truck – a rolling tribute to both past and present members of the U.S. military. Richard comes from a family with deep military roots and considers it a great privilege to drive the Ride of Pride truck for Schneider. “My grandfather is a World War II vet, and I’m the only one in my family to serve 20 plus years in the military.”

What does the Ride of Pride mean to Richard? “The Ride of Pride is a symbol of my two passions. I have the opportunity to show my gratitude for the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedoms while enjoying the freedom of being on the road. I am proud to show off the truck on the road, especially to U.S. veterans.”

Red, White and Blue a Perfect Fit for the Big Orange

Richard shares his thoughts for any members of the military considering a career as a truck driver:

“Schneider bends over backwards to accommodate those who serve in the military and understands the importance of working with your schedule. I really love my job and all it has to offer and plan to be a part of the Schneider crew until retirement.”
