Schneider is seeking a solution focused Area Planner to be accountable for establishing, communicating and executing the dispatch plan by matching available business owners and equipment with customer load tenders.  As the recognized expert on freight flows for the geography, you will collaborate with Operations, Sales, Pricing, and Customer Service to ensure overall key factor and business success.




  • Establish the market plan to include:  shift direction, priority of freight, load and stage, business owner availability, etc.  Continually assess market conditions and performance and adjust plan accordingly.
  • Establish priority and direction for container/chassis assignment and manage optimal loaded and empty container appointments.  Focused on lowest controllable cost (i.e. demurrage, per diem, chassis cost etc.)
  • Provide choices to the business owners in accordance with the market plan to maximize all aspects of the value triangle (profitability, customer satisfaction, and capacity retention). 
  • All decisions need to aligned with Schneider’s #1 core value:   safety.
  • Analyze shipping trends using root cause analysis to implement solutions for continuous improvements of the market.
  • Identify root cause of poor service trends and collaborate with Operations and Customer Service to develop action plans to restore service to desired levels.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of 1-2 years relevant work experience.
  • Effective communication skills- oral, written and listening
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to positively impact others
  • Analytical and Strategic thinking skills
  • Project Management experience
