Job overview:
Schneider is seeking a Tractor-Trailer Team Leader in El Monte, CA to manage the company’s relationships with external maintenance and repair vendors. The Tractor-Trailer Team Leader will also lead a team of fleet maintenance associates.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee vendor performance: Manage relationships with external maintenance and repair vendors, ensuring they meet contractual obligations.
- Lead a team of vendor associates: Recruit, interview, hire, train and coach team members.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs: Collaborate with vendors to schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for the tractor-trailer fleet.
- Ensure compliance: Confirm all maintenance activities adhere to relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements, such as Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
- Oversee budgeting and cost control: Monitor expenses, negotiate contracts with vendors, and identify cost-saving opportunities in fleet maintenance operations.
- Complete reporting and analysis: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze fleet data and generate reports on maintenance activities, expenses and overall fleet health.
- Address issues: Promptly respond to vehicle breakdowns, emergencies and other fleet-related issues, working with vendors to resolve them efficiently.
Skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or tractor-trailer maintenance.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Understanding tractor-trailer systems, mechanics, and diagnostic procedures.
- Able to manage relationships and negotiate contracts.
- Able to utilize data and metrics to track performance, identify areas of improvement and make optimizations.
- Familiar with fleet management software.
- Understanding DOT and FMCSA laws and regulations.
