Our program prepares individuals to drive tractor-trailer rigs. Students learn the proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial motor vehicle laws & regulations, & the basic principles and practices for operating commercial vehicles. Coursework includes motor vehicle laws & regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security, & fire protection. Highway driving, training range exercises, & classroom lectures develop the student’s knowledge & skills. The day class runs 8 weeks & the evening class runs 10 weeks. The Truck Driver Training class is 394 hours with approximately 80% on the range/road & approximately 20% hours in the classroom including online learning.Cape Fear Community College CDL training location(s)
