Assistant Diesel Technician

Job overview:
- Provide general, non-diagnostic mechanical assistance to diesel technicians in Wilmer, TX.
- Handle routine maintenance on trucks and trailers.
- Perform non-technical tasks, such as parts stocking, inventory counting and parts pick-ups.
Responsibilities:
- Assist higher skilled technicians on tractor and trailer repairs.
- Replace lights, tires, fuel filters, air filters, mud flaps and mud flap brackets.
- Perform routine cleaning of the shop and equipment.
- Use a computer to create, track and complete work orders.
- Maintain and stock parts inventory.
- Use a forklift and company vehicles to pick up, unload and stock parts.
- Communicate with internal customers, including other shop associates, drivers and operations leaders on repairs stances.
Skills and qualifications:
- Associate degree in diesel technology or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Computer systems experience.
- Able to provide own tools within 30 days of hire.
