Job overview: 

Schneider is seeking a Logistics Buyer in Green Bay for port drayage to identify, select and onboard transportation and logistics carriers and suppliers for Schneider’s customers. The Logistics Buyer will negotiate rates and service agreements, manage provider performance and coordinate all procurement-related activities.

Responsibilities: 

  • Understand customers’ supply chain strategies and how they measure success.
  • Relationship building with 3rd party carriers at multiple locations across the United States.
  • Select service provider options to meet customers’ objectives.
  • Provide transportation solutions based on customers’ needs.
  • Experience in port dray and intermodal for finding solutions to complex freight requirements.
  • Negotiate contract rates by staying up to date on market trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers to provide supply chain value to customers.
  • Mitigate risk through leveraging safety and service compliance processes.
  • Lead monthly reviews to evaluate the performance of carriers and logistics suppliers.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in the areas of Port Dray and Intermodal: Knowledgeable in pricing models and competitive rates within the market.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
