As an HR Manager you will work directly for Midwest Logistics Systems (MLS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Schneider, MLS is operated separately from Schneider with its own operating procedures, qualification requirements, training program, pay packages and benefits.  

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Administration and oversight of all hiring, termination, disciplinary, employee leave, and other employment decisions to ensure compliance with company policy and all applicable laws, rules and regulations (including those relating to employment and labor law, as well as DOT/FMCSA driver requirements)
  • Extensive employee relations and communication, including conflict resolution; fielding questions and grievances about health insurance and other employee benefits, leaves of absence, discipline, and other employment decisions
  • Administration of health insurance and benefit administration
  • Management of office personnel at company headquarter office
  • Works with legal counsel (in house & outside counsel) in investigations of employment issues
  • Organization & Recordkeeping of employment and DOT documents & files
  • Other duties customary in an HR Manager position, and/or additional duties assigned by executive management from time to time

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years verifiable experience in a human resources supervisory position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related business field
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state employment & labor laws/regulations (including FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, etc.) and DOT/FMCSA driver requirements (driver qualification, drug & alcohol testing program, etc.);
  • Sufficient knowledge of health insurance and other benefit administration, including ERISA, Affordable Care Act, and other laws/regulations affecting employee healthcare and benefits
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Windows applications
  • Detail-oriented and organized approach in all duties performed
