Schneider Named 2017 Inbound Logistics Green Supply Chain Partner for Ninth Consecutive Year

Long before it was grand to go green, Schneider has been reducing greenhouse emissions, improving fuel efficiency and changing operational policies to reduce its carbon footprint and that of its customers. Unwavering in its longstanding commitment to sustainability, the premier provider of transportation and logistics services has been recognized as a 2017 Inbound Logistics Green Supply Chain Partner. Schneider has received this recognition every year since the award’s inception in 2009.

Again this year, Inbound Logistics magazine went out into the marketplace with a questionnaire asking companies about their commitment to sustainability. The publication looked at key benchmark achievements, such as reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, use of alternative fuel and energy sources, reuse and recycling programs, energy usage reduction and sustainable packaging. Additional considerations included whether companies are SmartWay partners or LEED-certified. The editorial team then selected the top 75 companies they felt “walk the walk” when it comes to creating and operating green and lean supply chains.

Schneider manages one of the most energy-efficient fleets in the transportation industry, with onsite engineers and a rigorous testing program of new technologies and operating procedures. Additionally, ongoing investments in energy-efficient equipment cut down greenhouse gas emissions and help shippers meet their sustainability initiatives. Of course, Schneider’s success comes down to its drivers who not only participate in ongoing training for operating efficiently, but take those learnings and consistently apply them to their job.
