The Schneider organization has an immediate need for an Account Specialist who will be responsible for applying cash to the invoices paid in the Accounts Receivable System. You will work to determine the root cause of remittance problems, understanding and communicate customer payment issues and understand internal systems to resolve payment issues. This role requires integration with the Collections and Accounts Payable team. As the Account Specialist, you will support the preparation of the Accounts Receivable system for the monthly close. This position broadens your industry knowledge which in turn drives your career to limitless opportunities and positions you for interesting challenges.

As an Account Specialist, your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Working with internal and external customers to solve issues in an effort to maximize automation. This may include customer start-up, customer relations (new or existing), self-invoicing customers, unassigned and unapplied cash, refunds, deductions, and third party payers.
  • Understanding customer payment procedures. Persuading internal and external customers to use best payment options to reduce cycle time.
  • Communicating and resolving payment exception information and reoccurring problems to internal and external customers.
  • Increasing the auto cash application percentage and decreasing the cycle time (cash deposit to application) as measures of success in this role.
  • Initiating and participating in focus teams relating to continuous improvement which include customer, system, process, and individual improvements.
  • Handling support activities to include but not limited to: Index/image supporting documentation, Overcharge claims, unassigned cash, ACH customer request, transaction reconciliation, preparation of deposits, Credit Card Payment processing and bank interface and deposit reconciliation.

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • High School diploma/GED or relevant work experience; Advanced Math or Accounting courses desired. Post-secondary education a plus.
  • Knowledge of current technology. Microsoft Suite required. Oracle desired. Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Effective and efficient oral and written communication skills
  • Influencing skills, resulting in a positive outcome
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions
